Starter Program

Medical Claims Processors and Consultants are making a place in this industry. Don’t pay $10,000 and up for programs not nearly as complete as ours when you can get into this industry for a lot less money.

Learn from experts, Cyndee and Larry Weston, who’ve owned and operated their own billing service and have worked with successful medical billers for many years! You'll learn all their shortcuts and secrets for running a successful business, and you'll get a solid foundation of knowledge.

Healthcare providers of all types are being overwhelmed by medical claims paperwork and inexperience at collecting insurance money. As an independent medical claims processor or consultant, you'll be relieving doctors of their biggest headache by reducing their overhead, eliminating the need for additional billing clerks, and speeding up their claims payments. Quite frankly, you can do a better job of collecting their money by solely focusing their revenue cycle management; whereas the employees in doctor’s offices have a multitude of interruptions and daily tasks that prevent them from being very effective. Doctors today know that outsourcing their billing is a better, more cost efficient alternative than doing the billing in-house. This business is affordable to start up and is a low-overhead return on investment.

Within a short time of receiving our Medical Billing Starter Program, you'll start to build a solid foundation of knowledge that will enable you to start and run your successful medical billing business.

Our comprehensive online courses, toolkits, and training manuals will provide you with the information you need to start your medical billing business. You'll learn how medical billing works and you'll learn about insurance carriers, filing claims, introductory coding, HIPAA, OIG Compliance, marketing to doctors, and much more! And if you need help, we'll be here to provide you with the technical and marketing support you need.

Best of all, the price of our program cannot be duplicated. As with any prospect, there are opportunists who may tell you this is an easy-to-do business. The truth is, there is a lot to learn and it isn't as easy as some people may lead you to believe. You'll have to work at learning medical billing and you'll have to continue learning to stay abreast of changes within the industry.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment prospects for medical insurance billers and health information technicians in the medical billing industry are projected to grow 22 percent from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations. In 2012, the Median pay was $34,160. With treatment and medical testing improvements, the general population is living longer – and with more people insured under the Affordable Care Act, the growth and demand for qualified medical billers will only increase.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) created an opportunity for the healthcare industry to move from paper claims transactions to electronic transactions using one national standard format, creating an opportunity for medical billers to work with non-compliant providers to help them achieve compliancy.

Providers must also meet Privacy and Security standards concerning protected health information. Some healthcare providers are meeting privacy standards, however, there are still many that do not. There is a tremendous opportunity for billers who are prepared to assist doctors and other healthcare providers meet HIPAA requirements.

Additionally, the Office of Inspector General has published guidelines for fraud and abuse detection and prevention that some doctor's offices still have not complied with even though Medicare Advantage requires participation contingent upon doctors having a compliance plan in place. With our toolkits, you can help them comply with federal requirements, creating an additional opportunity for your billing business.

Meeting these standards and regulations, while continuing the education necessary to get claims paid, requires cost-effective measures. Many healthcare providers are not adequately prepared to meet the requirements. Overhead is a big problem for smaller healthcare providers, and staffing experienced billers is a constant battle. Additionally, our nation is spending more than ever on healthcare. The bottom line is that the need for professional, experienced medical claims processors and consultants is there.

Regardless of your knowledge of insurance, accounting, the medical field, and computers, our training program will teach you what you need to know to succeed. Plus, as an added assurance for you, we offer you the support of experienced, reliable professionals. If you need to email or call for support every day, that's okay, because we're committed to your success!

Q: Do you provide doctor accounts?

A: We are not an employment agency, nor do we provide you with accounts. Any company that implies they will provide you with provider accounts, frankly speaking, is probably a scam. Most companies that claim this are simply providing you with an outdated list of healthcare providers. Medicare has, in the past, provided a list of doctors not filing claims electronically; however, many of those lists are no longer available or are outdated as a result of the implementation of HIPAA Transaction Standards.

Q: What can I expect to earn as a medical biller?

A: The answer to this question depends solely upon you, your willingness to learn, and continue to learn and then putting what you've learned to work for you. You are only limited by your own desire, the amount of effort you put into it and by how hard or how little you work at being successful. Your education and marketing and sales efforts obviously play a certain role in how much you will earn. No one provider will have the exact same needs. Filing clean claims is only one small part of final outcome in collecting insurance claims.

The result one person achieves is not representative of what others will achieve since each person's contribution of effort, resources and time are never the same. Some people never make anything because they don't work at it or are not committed to owning their own business. You are only limited by your own self-imposed limitations - we provide you with the right tools, it's up to you to do the rest.

Q: How soon will I start to make money?

A: Realistically, there are many tasks you will have to accomplish before you are even ready to start marketing, like setting up your company, deciding on a name, understanding, learning and deciding on the services you can or will offer, developing business cards, letterhead, brochures, service agreements, and more. You'll have to begin your education and training and continue to build on your knowledge continuously. Also, you'll have to learn how to work with your billing software and its capabilities in order to see the benefits of using it. You have to be ready to sell, know what you're selling, be ready to answer questions then be prepared to provide ethical and professional services.

How soon you complete those tasks will determine when you are ready to start marketing. It can take several months before a person is ready. There's a lot to learn and you have to build your compliance manuals. From there, it could be anywhere from another month to several before you are able to contract with a client, depending on how much effort you put into marketing and prospecting for clients. As for actual numbers, that will depend on your market area and what other billers are doing.

Q: Is medical billing software included in the Starter Program?

A: This program includes MedLook Biller Medical Billing Software.

Q: Will I receive any printed materials or will your products be sent to me on CD?

A: We send our products to you on CD. We take pride in being able to keep our prices low by utilizing technology that allows us to provide quality information through electronic means. Our manual can be printed and stored on your computer for easy access. You'll also have our CD as a back-up should you ever need to re-install any of our products. Should you misplace your CD, we will replace it.

Q: Are you a clearinghouse or do you provide a clearinghouse connection?

A: We are not a clearinghouse. Billers use a clearinghouse for two reasons. First, the clearinghouse will check your claims for certain errors before claims are sent to carriers. Also, the clearinghouse reformats the data you send to them before sending it to the carriers in the required standard transaction format. Because changes must be made regularly to meet a carrier's companion guide requirements, it may be cost prohibitive to try and file directly with most carriers. Use of a clearinghouse allows you more flexibility to send transactions to more carriers. Clearinghouses provide a plethora of services you may indeed find beneficial to your business.

Q: How long will it take for my products to arrive?

A: You'll receive your products in a priority mail shipment within 3 to 5 days from the date of purchase. The only exception will be if you order an additional product we do not normally stock in-house. In that case, your product will be shipped to you within about a week.

Q: Will I receive a certification after studying your Medical Billing Starter Program?

A: Our starter program does not provide you with a certification. Those companies that promote certification by studying a few hours and taking a 30 minute exam are selling a lot of nothing. Certification for this industry requires many hours of study and isn't something that can be achieved in a couple of days.

Q: Do I need to be Certified?

A: Although there are no federal or state mandates requiring certification, we believe the right certification promotes credibility among physicians. AMBA, the American Medical Billing Association, has spent several years developing a national certification exam for billers. Learn more about becoming certified in Medical Billing

Q: How can I obtain demos of medical billing software products?

A: MedLook Demo. We are authorized resellers of the above program.

Q: Can you provide me with references?

A: Absolutely! We'd be very happy to provide you with references including businesses and customers. You can start by calling the Better Business Bureau of Oklahoma City at 405 239-6081. Our phone number is 580 369-2700. Or, you can obtain an online report on our company through the BBB's website.

Q: How long has your company been in business?

A: We have been in business since Dec. 1989. Having been in business for such a long time allows us to anticipate many of your questions and concerns related to this industry. Our experience will certainly play a role in your success!
